NEW CONSTRUCTION

CONSTRUCTING NEW SUCCESS

You may be adding a new addition to your family home or overseeing the multi-million-dollar construction of a Fortune 500 company's new global headquarters. Regardless of the size or scope of your new construction project, Oncor offers tools and support to deliver the electric service you need for your project.

To start new electric service at a premise where there is no electric meter installed, follow these easy steps:

1

Submit an online request if your project needs Oncor construction

If your project requires new construction by Oncor, for example, new poles, wire, or transformers, please click here to submit a request.

2

Create an account in our New Construction Portal

After submitting your request, you should receive an email with directions on creating a New Construction Portal account and next steps. Please create an account for our New Construction Portal with the same email used for the request form. You will be able to view the status of your project and see updates throughout the process here. If you already have an account, please log in.

3

A Project Manager will contact you after reviewing your submittal details

A Project Manager will be assigned to your new service request shortly. Expect a phone call or email from them within two business days of submitting your request.

4

Stay in contact with your Project Manager for next steps

When your location is ready for service, your Project Manager will provide you with an ESI ID. After that, you will need to choose a retail provider and rate plan by visiting powertochoose.org.

Meters are installed based on the date you select to start service with your chosen retail provider.

*Additional construction or property access issues could impact meter installation dates.

5

Stay informed with outage notifications via the MyOncor app

Download the MyOncor app to stay informed with outage notifications and report issues (power outages, downed lines, etc) to Oncor.

CONSTRUCTION SAFETY

It doesn't matter if your construction project is a one-man DIY or requires a crew of hundreds, take precautions to protect yourself, your work crews, and your investment by taking a few simple steps when working near power lines and electric equipment.

TREE PRUNING

Tree branches tangled in power lines cause countless power outages. Plan before you plant. Choose the right tree for the area, and be sure it has plenty of room to grow without creeping into power lines.

CALL BEFORE YOU DIG

While landscaping enhances properties and creates valuable curb appeal, it can quickly become dangerous and costly if you hit a power line or other service line buried underground. Always call before you break ground.

METER TAMPERING

When individuals try to bypass an electric meter, they not only break the law, they risk exposure to live wires and possible injury. If you suspect meter tampering, report it to Oncor at 888.313.6862

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

There are 3 easy ways to request underground service:

1.     Submit a request using the Oncor New Construction Form on Oncor.com.

2.     Call the Oncor New Construction Department at 888-222-8045

Hours of Operation: Mon-Fri 7am - 7pm & Sat 8am - 12pm

3.     For multiple locations, please submit all of the information via the Builder Request Email Form and send to c3ncmc@oncor.com.

The request can be made:

1.     After the main Oncor infrastructure to your subdivision or location is completed and energized.

2.     Before you install driveways, sidewalks, paved parking lots, retaining/concrete walls, sprinkler systems, etc.

If the location has or plans to have an obstruction that could be in the path of the underground, Oncor will require the customer to provide and install the raceway for the service to Oncor specifications.

3.     When your location is almost complete (no more digging planned).

Please review the Electric Service Guidelines for requirements.

Oncor will take several actions to start the process of installing your underground service, including sending a crew to perform the work, targeted within 10 business days.

Weather conditions and storms can impact this timeframe and the resources needed to complete this request.

The 10 business day timeframe also assumes that the site is ready for underground, the meter location is marked/addressed, and the pathway is free of obstruction. Any issues with site readiness will likely result in the order being canceled and require the process to start all over again.
