A/C TUNE UP

WHAT IS THE A/C TUNE-UP (INCOME ELIGIBLE) PROGRAM?

Keeping your cooling system running safely and at peak performance requires occasional professional service. When the components of your A/C unit are dirty or worn out, it causes the system to work harder and to cool less efficiently. This not only means reduced comfort. Over time, your system can stop cooling adequately or even fail completely.
Tune up your A/C unit every 5 years to:

  • Improve air quality
  • Lower cooling costs
  • Keep your system running at peak performance
  • Improve comfort and humidity control
  • Help your A/C last longer

The A/C tune-up will be performed at no cost to you by a participating contractor.
The A/C tune-up includes*:

  • Condenser coil, evaporator coil, and blower door cleaning
  • Air filter replacement with customer-provided air filter
  • Measurement and correction of improper air flow
  • Refrigerant charge assessment

A/C TUNE-UP (INCOME ELIGIBLE) PROGRAM QUALIFICATIONS:

Homes must have Oncor as their electric delivery provider. Homeowners and renters (who have permission from the owner) may participate. Oncor reimburses service providers, so you can participate worry free. Our incentives cover all project costs completed in the A/C Tune-up (Income Eligible) program. Customers who have received an A/C tune-up on their central A/C or heat pump in the past 5 years are not eligible. A/C tune-ups can be performed on units that weigh up to 5 tons and are at least 1 year old. Temperatures must be 70° or higher to perform the service and units must be currently operational.

*During the tune-up, the technician may identify repairs that need attention to improve your A/C's efficiency and performance. There may be additional costs associated with those repairs. A replacement filter must be provided by the customer. The technician may not clean the unit if cleaning could cause damage, or if the unit is inaccessible; the customer will be advised. If the A/C system requires refrigerant, the technician will provide an estimate. Other program requirements and restrictions may apply.
