Oncor employees and contractors have restored power to more than 100,000 customers since this morning’s severe storm passed through West Texas and the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

As of this afternoon, the storm continues to make its way through the company’s East Texas service territory and high wind warnings and advisories also remain in effect.

“High winds caused significant damage, so our teams will be working around the clock to restore power,” said Keith Hull, Oncor Vice President of Distribution Operations. “We are replacing downed power lines, resetting broken poles and essentially rebuilding small segments of our electric grid. We’ve brought in crews from other parts of our service territory to restore power as quickly and safely as possible and we won’t stop working until we get everyone back on.”

Wind speeds in excess of 80 mph in some neighborhoods caused extensive damage.
