DALLAS (February 3, 2023) – Oncor continues making progress to restore all customers that lost power this week during a significant winter event that brought ice, sleet, snow and freezing temperatures to our service territory.

We understand that losing power during this kind of winter weather event can be both stressful and aggravating. Oncor is so grateful to our customers for their patience. We now have more than two thousand workers from other Texas utilities and neighboring states, assisting our personnel and contractors in this restoration effort.

As repairs are completed in many of our communities, those resources are quickly being reassigned to areas with higher outage activity. Oncor’s southern, eastern and northeastern regions saw significant ice accumulation that impacted equipment.

Everyone should remember that although temperatures will warm up during the day, roads remain icy and hazardous. If you are driving in an area where our employees are making repairs, please give them ample room to work. If you have power and can stay home safely, it is still best to do so.

As more repairs are made to our infrastructure, some customers may find that they still don’t have power. It is important to remember during severe weather, parts of your home that supply electricity like your meter base, may be damaged and will require a certified electrician to make repairs before Oncor can restore service. For information on the what equipment Oncor maintains and what equipment you as a homeowner must maintain, click here.

Customers can report outages and receive updates by downloading the MyOncor App and following Oncor on Facebook and Twitter, or by calling 888.313.4747. If you see a downed power line, stay away, keep people away and call 911 immediately.

Additionally, while prioritized during power restoration events, critical care designations do not guarantee an uninterrupted power supply, especially during severe weather. Customers who rely on electricity for life-saving medical devices should have a plan in place in case of power outages.
