What do you get when you mash up Texas art and Star Wars? The Lone Star Wars Art Competition. Each year, artists from around the state combine their Lone Star State passion and fandom for one of the most beloved cinematic series to create unique works of art.
On March 6, 2018, a tiny white tiger cub was born in Wylie, Texas' In-Sync Wildlife Rescue. His name? Kylo Ren. The sanctuary's founder is an avid Star Wars fan and found it fitting to name its newest resident after the new trilogy's brooding villain. iii
That's no moon—it's a holiday display. The lights are a little brighter in Texas each December thanks to Matt Johnson and the 15,000 lights he uses to turn his San Antonio home into the ultimate Star Wars tribute. The light display takes more than a full year to program and six weeks to assemble. Cars line up and down the street to enjoy the show, set to a remix of “The Imperial March."
