From Cowtown to the Big D, two long-time Oncor employees now have a direct hand in leading two important Hispanic business organizations.
In Fort Worth, Oncor Area Manager Mike Dimas recently was elected the new Chairman of the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (FWHCC) Board of Directors. Dimas served the last six years on the FWHCC board.
In Dallas, Director Western Region Tony Flores is the newly elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GDHCC). Since 2014, Flores has served as a member of the group’s board and helped propel its success.
Dimas is proud to carry forward the impact of his membership and the longstanding company legacy of participation with the FWHCC. For 40 years, Oncor has continued to be an involved corporate member of the Fort Worth organization.
At Oncor, Dimas serves 15 cities across Tarrant, Parker and Johnson counties. With 38 years of service, he’s remained involved with his community, including serving as past Chairman of the Board of Directors for both Saginaw and Benbrook chambers.
Dimas said he takes pride in his work to build relationships across the city. These relationships are a valuable resource to help businesses thrive and improve the city overall, he said.
“I have the unique and valuable opportunity to be a bridge within our community and support the growth and development of our city,” Dimas said. “I take pride in our work because we stay connected and bring together other organizations, professionals and opportunities for the common good of our city. We help make a difference and support others to do the same in both their personal and professional lives.”
Flores leads a Dallas organization that works to help inspire and empower local Hispanic and Latino small-business owners with the job skills and networking opportunities they need to succeed.
A Texas native, Flores follows a legacy of hard work and perseverance instilled in him by his parents. In 1990, he joined the Oncor family as a staff engineer. In his current position, he’s continued to give back to his community and profession and even more, live out his passion to serve others.
“I’m honored to be able to be part of this organization and lead such inspiring individuals,” Flores said. “My role at Oncor is enriched by the connections I grow through my involvement with GDHCC. Through this work, I have the opportunity to stay connected with all aspects of the communities we serve. I look forward to the year ahead and the impact we can continue to have.”
Flores and Dimas said in their new roles, they’ll be responsible for setting the annual goals for their chambers and working with their boards to achieve them.
They said that in 2019, a major focus for both organizations will be to increase membership and grow revenues to create the greatest impact on local businesses and communities in their cities.
