Oncor personnel and mutual assistance partners have continued working around the clock to restore power to more than 120,000 customers since Friday night’s severe storms. As of Sunday morning, less than 5,000 customers are without power. Oncor estimates that substantially all restoration will be complete by tonight.

Remaining outages are located within the hardest hit areas and require the most extensive repairs. Additional personnel continue to be routed to these areas to support restoration. The exact location of an outage impacting a home or business may not always be immediately visible from where individuals are located. It’s possible there may be damage further up the lines that deliver power to the area where the outage is experienced, which is where personnel would be working. We greatly appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers and remain focused on doing all we can to restore the remaining outages as quickly and safely as possible.

While these efforts continue, individuals without power are encouraged to examine their home electrical equipment, including the meter base and/or weatherhead, to ensure they have not been damaged or pulled off. If so, an electrician will need to make repairs and a city inspection may be required before power can be safely restored. After the repairs and inspection are complete, customers can contact Oncor at 888.313.6862 to request a reconnect.

Safety for employees and the public remains Oncor’s number one priority. If you see a downed power line, please stay away, keep pets and others away and call 911 immediately. In addition to the downed line potentially being energized, anything touching the power line, such as a tree branch, could also be energized. As temperatures remain high, customers are encouraged to check on neighbors and elderly or vulnerable residents, and to seek alternative shelter as needed. Anyone experiencing an emergency event should call 911 immediately.

It is important to note that Oncor’s online Storm Center map identifies all current outages throughout our service area, which serves more than 13 million Texans in more than 400 communities. As we respond to power outages from a variety of issues, such as traffic accidents, wildlife or other causes, it is important to distinguish storm-related outages from non-storm related outages. Please contact our 24/7 media line at 877.426.1616 for an update on the most current storm-related outages.
