Clear skies today helped Oncor crews make continued progress getting power restored to customers impacted by yesterday’s severe storms.
At the peak Sunday evening, approximately 131,000 customers were without power.
As soon as weather conditions permitted, our teams worked around the clock, and by 4:30 p.m. Monday, less than 14,000 remained without power.
Oncor crews, contractors and mutual assistance contractors from nearby states will continue working through the evening and into the morning until every home and business that is safe to receive power is restored.
Large trees have been uprooted and caused damage to power lines, poles and other electric equipment. Fallen trees have also blocked streets and alleyways presenting some access challenges and leading to some longer than normal wait times for restoration.
Remember to always keep safety top of mind. If you see a fallen power line, assume it is energized. Stay away, keep others and pets away from the area and call 911 immediately.
We are thankful for everyone’s patience in the aftermath of the severe storms that impacted so many North Texans. We especially send our thanks to folks staying off the roads to give our crews and other first responders room to work and continue the cleanup.
If your power is back on, be sure to check in on family and loved ones that might still be in the dark and need a place to cool off or recharge their phones.
NOTE: It is important to note that Oncor’s online Storm Center map identifies all current outages throughout our service area, which serves more than 13 million Texans in more than 400 communities. As we respond to power outages from a variety of issues, such as traffic accidents, construction work and new weather-related events, it is important to distinguish September 4th storm-related outages from other outages. Please contact our 24/7 media line at 877.426.1616 for an update on the most current storm-related outages.
