ERCOT has issued a Weather Watch from Feb. 19-21 due to forecasted extreme cold weather across the ERCOT region, higher electrical demand, and the potential for lower reserves. Oncor is echoing this message in its role as the transmission and distribution company, or the poles and wires company that delivers electricity to many Texans. It does not own or operate power generation facilities, or sell, purchase or offer electricity retail services. Oncor will continue to follow direction from ERCOT. 

(Austin, TX) ERCOT has issued a Weather Watch from Feb. 19-21 due to forecasted extreme cold weather across the ERCOT region, higher electrical demand, and the potential for lower reserves. Grid conditions are expected to be normal during an ERCOT Weather Watch.

ERCOT is monitoring weather conditions closely and will deploy all available tools to manage the grid, continuing a reliability-first approach to operations. In anticipation of the extreme cold weather, ERCOT is coordinating preparation efforts with the Texas Energy Reliability Council, the Public Utility Commission of Texas, the Texas Department of Emergency Management, and other state agencies, as well as with Market Participants.

ERCOT encourages everyone to sign up for grid condition notifications through the Texas Advisory and Notification System (TXANS). Texans can also monitor real-time and extended grid conditions at ercot.com.

What is an ERCOT Weather Watch?
An ERCOT Weather Watch is an advance notification of forecasted significant weather with higher electrical demand and the potential for lower reserves. At this time, grid conditions are expected to be normal, and there is no current expectation of an energy emergency. Texans should continue to monitor real-time and extended grid conditions at ercot.com.

No action is needed. You can monitor current and extended grid conditions on ercot.com.

ERCOT emite alerta meteorológica

(Austin, TX) - ERCOT ha emitido una alerta meteorológica del 19 al 21 de febrero debido al extremo frío que se pronostica en toda la región de ERCOT, una mayor demanda eléctrica y la posibilidad de menores reservas.

Se tiene previsto que las condiciones de la red sean normales durante la alerta meteorológica de ERCOT. En previsión del frío extremo, ERCOT está coordinando los preparativos con el Consejo de Fiabilidad Energética de Texas, la Comisión de Servicios Públicos de Texas, el Departamento de Gestión de Emergencias de Texas y otros organismos estatales, así como con los participantes en el mercado.
