Customers Encouraged to Examine Home Electric Equipment for Damage

DALLAS (March 4, 2023) – Oncor personnel and mutual assistance partners have continued working around the clock and have restored power to more than 283,00 customers since Thursday evening’s severe storms. As of 7 a.m. Saturday, less than 6,500 customers are without power.

Oncor estimates that substantially all restoration will be complete by late tonight. We greatly appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers and remain focused on doing all we can to restore the remaining outages as quickly and safely as possible.

While Oncor repair efforts continue, individuals without power are encouraged to examine their home electrical equipment, including the meter base and/or weatherhead, to ensure they have not been damaged or pulled off. If so, an electrician will need to make repairs and a city inspection may be required before power can be safely restored. After the repairs and inspection are complete, customers can contact Oncor at 888.313.6862 to request a reconnect.

It is important to note that Oncor’s online Storm Center map identifies all current outages throughout our service area, which serves more than 13 million Texans in more than 400 communities. As we respond to power outages from a variety of issues, such as traffic accidents, construction work and other causes, it is important to distinguish storm-related outages from non-storm related outages. Please contact our 24/7 media line at 877.426.1616 for an update on the most current storm-related outages.

Safety for employees and the public remains Oncor’s number one priority. If you see a downed power line, please stay away, keep pets and others away and call 911 immediately. In addition to the downed line potentially being energized, anything touching the power line, such as a tree branch, could also be energized.

Customers can report outages and receive updates by registering for MyOncor text alerts by texting “REG” to 66267, downloading the MyOncor App, following Oncor on Facebook and Twitter, or by calling 888.313.4747.
