Last week, we saw DFW International Airport’s rain-free streak finally come to an end. It didn’t rain at the airport for 67 days this summer, the second-longest stretch on record.
As an added bonus, the rain also allowed temperatures to fall out of the triple digits for a few days last week. But the rain is gone and the heat is back in full force.
The “heat high” has built back in over Texas and that’ll keep things hot and sunny through about the middle of the week. Expect afternoon high temperatures in the 100-104 degree range Monday through Wednesday. No rain is expected through Tuesday.
By Wednesday, a weather pattern shift will kick in. This will allow daily chances of showers and thunderstorms to return to the forecast through Friday. Not everyone will see rain, but scattered storms are possible.
Similar to last week, some thunderstorms could be strong with lightning and strong winds. Always go indoors when you hear thunder and avoid any downed power lines after a storm moves through.
Thanks to the rain chances, high temperatures are expected to drop into the 90s by Thursday and Friday.
The weekly weather forecast is provided by Oncor meteorologist Kaiti Blake.
