Oncor Reaches 1 Million Smart Meters
Today, Oncor’s SMART TEXAS® project celebrates a big number, 1 million smart meters installed, marking a seven-digit milestone in the progress of Oncor’s smart meter transformation since the project began in 2008. By 2012, Oncor expects to complete the upgrade of more than 3 million meters throughout its service area. The 1-millionth smart meter was installed in Waco.

Oncor Tests New Tree Pruning Programs
Responding to concerns about its tree pruning practices, Oncor today announced two pilot programs using ideas submitted by customers. The first will deploy a team of certified arborists who as part of the pre-planning process will personally meet with customers whose trees need to be pruned to minimize outages, and the second will allow the customers at their cost to decide on a minimum pruning option.

Oncor’s full-court press to restore power following a damaging storm began to show results late this afternoon as power outages dropped to 125,000, down from 200,000 at noon. In the Metroplex, 115,000 remained without power. At noon, 175,000 homes and businesses were without power.
