Call Around and Ask Questions

It’s important to ask questions since not all of the participating Energy Efficiency Service Providers install all of the eligible measures. Plus, their prices may vary.

First, start by narrowing down two or three providers that work in your neighborhood. The list of Service Providers on our website includes phone numbers so call the area codes you are familiar with.  

Next, find out which Service Providers offer the energy efficiency improvements that meet your needs. Feel free to use more than one provider if needed.

Recommended Questions to Ask

1. What types of energy efficiency improvements do you install?

Not all service providers install all of the types of eligible energy efficiency improvements (nor are they required to). You can use more than one provider if needed.

2. Is there a fee to evaluate my home?

Most service providers do not charge a fee to evaluate a home. But some do. Feel free to contact others to compare fees and the types of energy efficiency improvements they provide.

3. Will I have to pay for any of the work performed?

Discuss your financial obligation with the Service Provider before starting any work in your home. The incentives provided may cover some of the energy saving measures performed, but not all. Charges may vary.

Get Copies of Your Host Customer Agreement, Certificate & Disclosure

The Public Utility Commission of Texas requires random inspections to verify the work performed by the Service Provider. Once your Service Provider has completed improvements to your home, a copy of the Host Customer Agreement should be given to you. By signing this agreement, you agree to allow Oncor to perform a post-inspection for verification purposes if needed.

In addition, the Service Provider should give you a Host Customer Certificate, which identifies the energy efficiency improvements that were installed in your home.

Also be sure to get a copy of your Customer Disclosure form, which provides information regarding your rights and contract with the Service Provider.
