Small Commercial Program
How Does it Work?
Oncor provides incentives to Service Providers who implement energy saving projects for small commercial customers in Oncor’s service area.
The incentives are to help offset the cost of the energy efficiency measures completed in the business facility measures that otherwise may not be completed without the help of the incentives.
Who is Eligible?
Small commercial customers are defined as businesses with less than 250 kW in energy demand. The business facility must also be located in Oncor’s service area. Typical examples might include local restaurants, stores and small office buildings.
What Does it Cost?
The incentives may cover the cost of some of the measures completed in the program, but may not cover all of the cost of the more expensive measures.
Oncor provides the incentive directly to the Service Provider, who then determines what to do with the incentive payment. Charges vary by Service Provider and no incentives are paid directly to the business customer by Oncor.
What Measures Qualify?
- Air conditioning system replacement (1.5 to 5 tons) equipment must be a new matched indoor/outdoor system with AHRI (Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute) energy efficiency rating of 14 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating)/11.5 EER (Energy Efficiency Rating) or higher
- Heat pump system replacement systems (1.5 to 5 tons) equipment must be a new matched indoor/outdoor system with AHRI (Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute) energy efficiency rating of 14 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating)/11.5 EER (Energy Efficiency Rating) or higher and a HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor) of 8.2 or higher
- Air conditioning and Heat Pump units ranging from 65,000 to 250,000 BTUH must comply with ASHRAE 90.1, with a minimum 10.3 EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) for existing replacement units, and a minimum 11.5 EER for new construction.
- Air infiltration reduction
- Duct efficiency improvement
- Water heater jackets, pipe insulation and replacement
- ENERGY STAR® windows, refrigerators, dishwashers and clothes washers
- High efficiency lighting upgrades
- Solar power (photovoltaic) systems
All measures must be installed by a Service Provider to be eligible for incentives. Some restrictions and conditions may apply to particular measures.
Incentives
- Incentive amounts vary by efficiency measure life and A/C incentive vary based on BTHU range and building type.
- Equipment installed under any other Oncor Energy Efficiency Program where an incentive is paid is not eligible for this program. Incentives are paid under only one program.
- No incentives are paid for installations that fail inspections and when proper documentation is not furnished to Oncor.
Service Providers
We encourage you to use our How to Select a Service Provider guide to help you compare providers.
The Service Provider will evaluate your business to determine which measures will save the most energy and produce the greatest reduction in energy costs. Some providers charge for this pre-assessment and some do not.
Each Service Provider is required to ensure all installations are completed with quality workmanship. Be sure to inspect the work before signing any final forms. If you are not satisfied with the work, talk with your Service Provider. If your issue still isn’t resolved, use the complaint procedure outlined in the Consumer Disclosure and Protection form provided by the Service Provider.
